Greetings and Merry Meet everyone ....
Hey, it's the Autumn Equinox. One of the lesser Sabbats. Lesser
Sabbat of the Wiccan holidays, but not in importance. It's a time
of balance. The balance between summer and winter. Being the
opposite of the Spring Equinox, from here on out the days get
shorter as the cycle turns. Winter sets in, and the warmth of
summer slowly slips away. At least in the Northern Hemisphere.
For our Southern Hemisphere readers, it's the reverse. Boy can
that get confusing when publishing a worldwide newsletter.
<giggle> This newsletter seems rather small for our usual
issues, but there are reasons for that. There are also more
firsts with this issue.
One of the reasons the issue is smaller is due to the fact that
we've gone through some losses. Dor, who writes many beautiful
articles that we enjoy immensely, suffered a great loss. It was a
loss many of us shared right along beside of her. On Thursday,
September 9th 1999 at 6am her mother Pearl passed. This was a
great loss to many of us here at Cauldrons and Broomsticks, as
many have grown to know her very well. I personally have had the
pleasure of her company many times. What a beautiful woman, and
she is greatly missed. The strength and love that Dor and her
daughter Dorinda have shown in the last few months is an example
for us all. On behalf of the staff and readers of Cauldrons and
Broomsticks I want to publicly extend our hearts and our strength
to help fill the void left in this passing.
Another reason for fewer articles is due to another loss. On
Wednesday 1st September 1999 at 06:55am, we lost a good friend
and someone who has guided many of us on our path. Doreen
Valiente also passed. The articles and thoughts she's shared have
been thought provoking, and right on track. Included in this
issue is her obituary.
This issue is dedicated; for the first time, to the wonderful
thoughts and memories of our friends and loved ones we miss as we
wait to meet again. This issue is dedicated to Pearl, Dor's mom
and our friend; and Doreen Valiente; our teacher. No matter our
path, allow us to celebrate their lives, and the love they shared
with all they came in contact with.
This is also the first issue since we've moved to Onelist. You
have total control over your subscription now using the Onelist
addresses listed above. Also with this issue we want to announce
that Windseeker will be coming back to us. She will be publishing
her Pagan Parenting articles again. This we're looking forward
to. Also, our own Rhia has been working on a new mirror site for
the main site at CyberStreet. New look, and new touch. It's not
fully finished with all the articles yet, but you have to take a
look at it anyway. It's at http://cauldrons-broomsticks.virtualave.net/. When it up and
fully running, we'll then be revamping the main site at CyberStreet. WindSeeker has some great ideas to build on the
masterpiece that Sorcy Summerwind created for us. Creativity at
it's best.
Inside this issue you'll find some very wonderful views of the
holiday, and some wonderful craft ideas. Of course we are able to
share the time with Fiona and Julian, Megan, and Auntie Ahn. It
wouldn't be the same without them. Also in this issue you'll meet
someone dear to me who is published in many other magazines, and
if we're really lucky she'll be a regular here too. Arianne
ShadowWalker joins us for the first time with her poem Healing
Circle. You're going to love it. We have others for upcoming
issues. And I even gave a review in this issue about a manuscript
sent to me by The Angelic College of Damkar. It barely passed
through our editors. <Giggle> But it's truly a magnificent
manuscript free for the asking.
Enough of this for now though. In the happy memories of both of
our friends; Pearl and Doreen I present to you THEIR Mabon issue
of Cauldrons and Broomsticks.
Blessings, Warmth and Love in your life .....
